Beanbah makes my cup just right. I go there nearly every day and it is always packed during the morning rush and lunch times. There are of cafes around Martin Place, so you really can't get away with serving rubbish. With that being said, I am very surprised at the ratings for this place.
The cafe serves very wholesome and healthy food at well, city prices (what can you expect)? I'd definitely recommend trying the poached chicken salad, and a lemon tart if you have room for it. -

I, like the person before me, fell for the prettiness and shiny whiteness of this place. They serve Bellissimo Coffee beans and have home made muffins. So I thought to myself 'How can this place go wrong?'
But it did. The coffee was below average. And with such a good bean it should have been fantastic. And the muffin was blah.
Literally, 2 doors down is Hole in the Wall Sandwich Factory, which makes better coffee and better muffins - but it's just not pretentious. -

This place has been on a slippery slope downwards for some time. The final straw was when I got muesli that tasted off. Shame as there is definitely room for a healthy option in the area.

Best coffee on Macquarie or Phillip Street - not the strongest but very smooth (get a double shot if you prefer a robust caffeine hit). Good bacon and eggs rolls in the morning and nice salads (changing daily) for lunch. Lovely staff.

Beanbah sure looks pretty. Its shiny staircase leading up to a pristine room packed with only the prettiest patrons getting their morning caffeine fix. Even the baristas are clean and well presented.
The coffee though? Decidedly average. Weak. My long black reminded me of one of the better cups I'd get out of a French press back in Canada, and I know Australia can do so much better.
